Many people don't spend much. They save the money into Mutual Funds & FDs towards building a nest-egg for early-retirement/FIRE. Others buy Real Estate or put the money into stock market for growth.

Few people are tech enthusiasts, and they spend on latest computers, phones, VR/AR headsets, drones, consoles, games, and other tech stuff.

That means senior software engineers are not the ones driving BMWs or Mercedes? People are more focused on saving, building a retirement corpus and hitting the FIRE number as early as possible over buying expensive cars and spending on branded items?
