Where did all the revenue roles go?
There's this quiet bloodbath happening in SaaS. The hiring request (no. of open jobs) pipeline for sales, CS, AM, SDR, and BDR roles is drying up fast. Whats causing this drop? Human-led revenue teams in SaaS now in question? There is enough and more evidence out there.. starting with drop in GTM recruiters jobs out there.
I would love to your take.. here's my take - 1/ Most SaaS orgs over-hired GTM during the 2021-22 boom. They built human-heavy revenue engines with 12-month sales cycles. But when CAC ballooned, churn spiked, and AI entered, that whole model cracked. Now they are seriously brutally correcting. 2/ The buyer has changed. The need. The Psyche. The seller hasn't. 3/ AI tools have absorbed entire/ a major chunk of GTM workflows
I mean think about it, Recruiters are an early indicator. Fewer SDR hires = fewer GTM recruiter mandates. Fewer CS headcount = fewer AMs and onboarding roles. You need X BDR to generate Y opps to map to Z AE's to meet x$ ARR right? If thats missing.. Means either everyone is operating at capacity or the market NEED for talent is shrinking.
Am I reading things wrong here?? Anyone else has same read??? Would love to hear a different take on this
