Most of the crore+ packages are a result of mid/late-20 somethings quoting Fixed+Variable+4 Year ESOPs, on top of inflated startup valuations.

At Startups that may be true. But there are folks at FAANG and equivalent companies who do make 1cr+ every year, year over year. And have less than 10yoe.

ESOPs are meaningless unless the company conducts regular buybacks or is going for an IPO which doesn't tank right after.

I haven't seen Indian people generally use TC a lot. From personal experience people here talk about base salary (same for me)
