When Life Gave Up on Us, I Didn’t....
I was 9 years old when my father passed away. My sister was 5. Life turned upside down overnight. We were broken and scared, and slowly, we also became poor. Our family income was just 5,000 rupees a month, and from that, we had to manage school fees, rent, and daily expenses.
I started working early. I gave tuitions, sold pens, books, and flowers outside the temple. When I turned 18, I continued my studies through correspondence and worked in call centers. I also worked at KFC. I never stopped, because stopping meant giving up.
My mother never imagined that one day we could have our own house or live a stable life, but I believed we could. I couldn’t study in a top university, but I made sure my sister did. I paid for her education, and today, she works in a good company and earns 80,000 rupees a month. I now earn 1.5 lakhs a month and have built my own house. Even though my husband already had a home, I wanted to have something that was mine. I also helped my sister take a home loan and build her own.
We started with nothing, but we didn’t stay there. We worked hard and changed our story.
So if you really want to change your life, start by changing your mindset. Stop saying your life is bad. Everyone’s life feels tough at some point, but it gets better only when you decide to make it better. Even a beggar can start by doing some work. You just have to take the first step.
