WhatsApp can't do it. They not only replicate telegram features but also downgrade them in their system.

They can't compete with telegram until they bring the telegram level privacy in their system.

They are simply adding Telegram's features to WhatsApp over time lol. I prefer telegram still but WhatsApp distribution and influence is something to be reckoned with.
