What's your opinion on loaning out money to friends?

I've realised that I've loaned out a good amount of money, a few lakhs, to different friends at 0% interest because they needed it, and now unable to get it back. They say they're having problems right now but I'm not sure, it's been a long time and if one saved properly, they could've returned my money. But they're pretty close friends so I'm unable to push harder either. Not sure if they're genuinely in need or if I'm being a scapegoat.

It's okay to lend small amounts
You can lend any amount to friends

If you are lending money to friends or relatives, only lend what you can forget. Don't expect it to come back, if it comes back you are lucky.
If not, just say that you have a policy to not lend money.

a policy to never lend money is not justified. why are you only earning money?
some people would not want your donation or ego but some help give it like it's a donation, and don't expect it back but you must give it

Guess you have selective vision problem, there are 2 lines before the "if not".

Also it is funny to read "you must give it"

To clarify, if your friend has a income tell them go to bank get a loan, if they're jobless then you should forget money given away to unemployed people, it's not much different than charity.
