What's the Junior level hiring scene right now?

I'm a design degree grad and have industry experience with a YC funded company and some freelance work. What's the industry looking for and what are the surface level skillsets us designers require to adapt to?

I have seen a lot of demand for designers with decent UI and visual design skills.

I believe design teams will start becoming smaller. Doesn’t make sense having a 40-50 member team for 1-2 products.

There was a lot of demand for specialised roles, especially during the covid hiring boom. Teams will look for generalist now; it’s easier to utilise and train a generalist junior designer.

These are my thoughts based on what I’ve noticed in my company and heard from other designer friends/peers.
