What's TCS gonna do & what you should?

Ok. So layoffs are already happening. But what's the TCS' future in next 5-10 years & what you should do.

TCS is a cash cow. Simply put. TCS is supposed to generate profits WITHOUT an investment. So TCS prefers to partners with exiting software tools & give service at cheapest cost. e.g. even with AI, TCS will use chatgpt license to provide service in AI. But will never think to create its own AI tool. Because it needs investment and TCS just want to generate profit.

It used to pay software engineers good till 2010, because software service was high margin business then. So TCS still made huge profits with that salaries too. Now service margin is shrinking. So will salaries & the layoffs will happen too.

If you are a software engineer with the dream of doing some groundbreaking work on tech, just move out. Because that's not TCS' policy.

So TCS is already moving to tier 2 or 3 locations like vijaywada, indore or nagpur. Because in those cities, it will pay even less. almost 20% less than pune or Bengaluru.

So who should join TCS going forward? If you are living with your parents in location like Nagpur. & Don't want to leave your family, want to take care of your farm or ancestral business and want work life balance with it. You are not paying rent or paying for grocery. Join TCS! You will survive on TCS salary. & eventually you will turn 40. & Till then TCS shall never do anything big in tech, Neither allow you to do. So you anyway going to retire without any regrets.

TCS will continue on its vicious downward path. Hire cheap, pay less, don't invest in tech, squizz margins & for that pay even lesser! Eventually it will be doomed in next 5-10 years. But till then it will generate billions of dollars of dividend for tata group to invest in other companies.

Think wisely about your condition. & Decide whether to stay put or move out.

PS. Purpose of this post is NOT to mock anybody. Just plain facts based on the TCS trend over the past years.

Perfect well said. I totally agree with you. There is no respect for pure techies. There are a lot of leaders which are leading the projects without having much technical skills as per the project requirements. For example, There are 6-7 leaders out of 35 members of teams and they are totally working on excel and PowerPoint. Restructuring is required as it's impacting techies effort. #Truth is always bitter 😞

It's those managers on top pushing excel and ppt work down to tech leads. Who will guide the juniors if senior is busy preparing monthly status reports.
