What's happening with the job market?

I see jobs being there, but even the entry level jobs are requiring experience. I saw a associate level job posting on linkedin for a startup asking for 4-6 years experience. This is in line with the recent article at The KEN.

Are people really ready to work for low salary for high skills? What does this mean for the freshers, job switchers/career switchers? Are we all doomed for now?

What's your take on the market?

Are people really ready to work for low salary for high skills? I have 4+ years of experience having good skills that exceed any average programmer. But I am working at a low wage of 42k a month in hand compared to my skillset. I would happily join an entry level job if it pays better.

What does this mean for the freshers, job switchers/career switchers? You are not fighting against skills, you are fighting against masses. There are a lot of people and there are very few jobs to give everyone an opportunity. Going through hundreds and thousands of applications is costly time and moneywise. So companies reject people like me based on a degree requirement using ATS and manual filtration.

Are we (freshers) all doomed for now? No. if you have a degree, you are ahead of me already. It is me who is doomed because I can't compete with the masses and I cant get into senior jobs (because of lack of experience in a good company).

What's your (my) take on the market? There are lots of opportunities but it is also very very competitive everywhere. So you need to differentiate yourself. You should have all the things most people have plus something extra to get ahead.

Seems like a defeatist mindset you have. Like you yourself have given upon you! If you have better skills, do you have open source contributions? Side projects which show how much passionate you are in this role?

I have many open source contributions including big big projects like compilers and all. I do compiler security and iOS security. I have been featured in top tech news websites and blogs and still I don't have a good job.

More than experience and the designation, what matters most is CTC. Earn more, save quick and quit IT.

Didn't understand what you mean. Are you saying high ctc people are affected than experience?

I mean if the company is paying more even the high experience guys are moving to entry level jobs.

Don't know about freshers but being a person with high experience...calls are minimum and those too are with high expectations but when u can ask them about package they offer its not as per market standard but as per ur ctc....which is a total fraud going now right now
