What would you choose between the two? Answer honestly

Trying to test out a theory

Earn 1L per month and all your peers earn 80K per month
Earn 1.2L per month but all your peers earn 1.4L per month

Second option means there's space to grow without the promotion

Lovely question People who voted option 1 great People who voted option 2 great People who voted option 2 but actually despise this happening - Wake up call
It may look like a very simple poll , but guys do introspect

OP- pls post what you was your hypothesis and what exactly are you trying to test

I did haha - I think I should have positioned it better, the meaning is slightly lost in the English

But yeah I read somewhere that people tend to pick option 1 more because they would prefer to have higher status over marginally more money - just wanted to test do people have a tendency to compare vs others or are they happier with their absolute earnings

People have a tendency to compare .
If anyone disagrees

  1. Rule out the outliers / exceptions
  2. Observe ,Observe (It may change your life )
    Please report your findings

Depends on what peers are. If it's a limited number, then option B is fine. But if it's everyone, you'll get screwed due to inflation

Define size of peer group. If it's everyone then option A else B

XD, if it's the entire world then option 1 always

Bro, it's a post-choice you shud consider.

For making a choice, obviously second is objectively better. You get better paid absolutely with potential to catchup to peers.

However the (dis)satisfaction only materializes a year after being in the job

Here’s a thought. How many peers?

1? 5? 10? Doesn’t matter. If they earn more, good for them?

50? 100? Now they have enormous, collective buying power. And you don’t.

They will drive up costs of living, school fees for their children, costs of housing, shopping, eating out … pretty much everything is going to be costlier because a large number of people can afford to pay more and more.

This matters because you get fucked because of your lower income.
