What to do when you aren't allowed to take leave for only one festival which you really need?

My manager won't let me take leave in continuation blaming the team strength whereas this is the only festival in the whole year when I need leaves. What shall I do? Please suggest.

How much leaves you take on monthly basis? If too less, make him understand that I haven't taken leave for so many months and this is the one I need. If he doesn't agree, on that festival day, drop a msg that I am not feeling well. Will take a leave.. and switch off your phone
