What should be our national language.

It feels like the national language debate has dragged on for too longโ€”we need clarity. At the same time, for low-skill jobs, locals should be given preference to maintain regional balance. I saw the Mumbai airport videoโ€”both sides had valid points, but the arrogance in forcing Hindi was unnecessary. Language is deeply tied to identity and should be respected. Also, historically, repeated invasions and cultural shifts in parts of North India may have weakened the connection to regional languages, which could explain the stronger tilt toward Hindi today.

Why do we need a national language??? We have been working perfectly fine until somebody decided to make it an issue. I have never faced any language barrier anywhere I have travelled.
And the language as an issue isn't deep rooted. It's very superficial. We have lost many of our languages and we are going to lose more. Literature, traditional knowledge systems, culture, identity and heritage is lost along with the language.
People question why English?? And naturally others will question why Hindi??

Maybe just learn the language of the place a little wherever you are staying. Making a language national won't solve anything. Already Hindi is taught as the 3rd language in all states except Tamil Nadu.

Bro, where did Telugu, Tamil, Kannada & Bangali come from in this topic (FYI: I am a Telugu speaking guy and I do know Hindi) but Tbh, Why National Language? Official Language is English and we should let it be. Why should everyone including children in School learn Hindi? See, Learning English is good as we get opportunities like Jobs etc. (Now some MFs say why are you following British, STFU, most of the world speaks English, the clients that pay you speak English (mostly, even german do)) Tell me, except for the argument: "Most of india speak Hindi", does learning Hindi give me Job opportunities (except for setting up shops or business in North India which I will learn if I have those plans) then WHY? Most of India can understand English (UNDERSTAND), yep even in Bihar. So why?
This has been a baseless topic, hindi, hindi etc. most of the MPs don't know English (gawaar lo h ye sab), and so they are running this campaigns.

They have a good number of speakers after Hindi and English, u don't wanna confront doesn't mean it'll not create an issue, we're going to have mindless voters in future and this topic will be exploited by everyone including Indian politician, US, China, Terroristan. I don't care what language is the national language but I want one at least on paper so at the time of crisis we're together

Then Put English (since most text books in india are english) so why burden people especially children to again learn Hindi.

Hindi because it's Indian and the most spoken language.

Then time to split India so the Hindi states can create their own country and leave the rest of us to use English as the second language.

. The non Hindi speakers have to learn their mother tongue, English and Hindi.
While the Hindi speakers know just one language.
Why should others adjust for Hindi ppl.
Make English mandatory instead of Hindi

Nope, you should correct it, most of India Understand Hindi. not Speaks. People in Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttarpradesh, Bihar (most parts), madhya pradesh primarily speak Hindi (just 5 out of 29 States). And you have the gal to say MOST of India SPEAKS Hindi? Nope Most of India UNDERSTANDS Hindi.
Will Amazon say "OKAY" if you say I will only speak Hindi even with Foreign clients? Nope, then is Hindi Putting Food on your Table? Nope. Even your interview would be in English. So why Hindi?
