What salary and designation to target for
A friend's younger brother recently joined a very good company, a market leader in its domain, from campus placements. He really knows a lot of stuff already especially with Cloud given he just graduated. He had joined as a software Dev majorly but has been given the role to maintain the cloud which was obviously not In his deemed role when he joined. They have promised to change his designation as well in lieu and also increase salary during appraisal which is in few months. I wanted your alls opinion, on first given he has just 6-7 months of full time, should he take up the designation of Cloud Engineer or even Individual Contributor, Second currently he is at a salary of over a lakh per month, what should he go for in the upcoming appraisal.
PS: Before joining full time corporate he has interned at startups for over 1.5-2 years and picked his cloud and development skills majorly there
Given he already knows about the domain he is working in I think he should consider taking the offer at the current company. You have mentioned that he recently graduated so I suppose this is his 1st appraisal, usually 1st appraisal is very high compared to subsequent appraisals so he should target for around 20-25. They may give you an excuse that you are getting promoted an stuff like so it is advisable to prepare counter arguments, usually negotiating results in better outcomes.
