What next??? Ufffff....

Hey I'm just fed up with what & how to pursue a career ... Currently I'm a Backup Admin and wanted to move to some main stream like I'm interested in Linux/Unix, Windows. I'm in the learning process of Linux/Unix scripting. And now year end evaluation final call pending from the manager. So should I convey my interest like in other streams I like to work or how? Can someone help with this please. Or any other option I can opt for? Like any ongoing technology I can start with? On behalf of my career growth
