What is your price to let go of WLB?
This is reference to this Tweet - https://x.com/phanikishan/status/1850103556667310089
Gabbar singh posted a feature request on Saturday morning to all QC players. 4 hours later, Swiggy had launched a pilot version (Honestly awed nonetheless) That also means a (or a team of developers) had to give up a Saturday coding a new feature some influencer wants ASAP, the weekend before Diwali
And since Swiggy managed in 4 hours, developers at Blinkit and Zepto too will need to burn their Saturday to satisfy this rat race
I know the developers here are paid huge sum, but what is that price to give up WLB/Family time/festivals for work?

Depends on mood.
If I fought with someone/don't want to go out of the room, I can work for free as well on the weekends.
I want to have an holiday, I would not work for any amount, even on weekdays.

Early stages of career (first 3 years), I would have just work if I was offered money.

True, but after a certain position we can't say no as the task criticality varies.

They already had this feature in slow rollout. Even Zepto has the same but got shut down because of other priorities with higher ROI.
Swiggy was able to turn the toggle on for this during festive season. Still a risk IMO, but not that high.

Like he said “it was already in the pipeline”. That is not a 4 hour job and I doubt he saw the tweet exactly when he posted lol.
Work life balance at these companies is shitty, but they can’t pull off impossible tasks.
Stay away from the companies though, a friend on mine in Zomato gets to go home at 1 am every 48 hours and sleeps in the office half of the times.

I couldn't sacrifice my weekends even if my CTC is a crore, honestly. But then there will be people here thinking that with the kind of attitude I have, I'd never get to that number anyways.
The thing is, I'm unable to see tech the same way I used to. These managers have tarnished my entire perspective
I don't have an answer to the question because all this is just a pr gimmick, but while the shopping list from a photo is cool, can't they just have a shopping list that lets you select items from inventory directly? Most of us just go to the last shopping order and select from there, no?

Money is what it all biols down to in the end, sad reality. People these days don't let go Sat and Sun while joining new org, they take Thu as last day and join new org from Friday. So that Sat and Sunday salary will be credited too.
