Rating is a perception the manager has about you so how you shape it is upto you. The other factor which contribute are

  1. the physical/mental/environmental proximity the manager has with you I.e. he is closely aware of what you are doing. If not what actions are you taking to make him aware of the efforts you are taking.
  2. How competitive is your peer group both in reality and in the view of your manager. A commendable under one manager may end being ME under another just because he has stronger peer group.
  3. How competent is your manager. If he has been a high performer all his career his expectations will also and threshold to give someone CD/OS will also be high. But he is more of a people pleaser he will full fill his quota of CD and OS even though someone may not really deserve it. Why antagonise your team if you have the slots. Keep them happy.
  4. How critical you are to the project and the client. This one factor most managers won’t ignore as making you unhappy can jeopardise the project. But point 1 also has to be satisfied or you client should be good enough to appreciate your efforts
  5. What are you bringing to the table beyond your project. Supporting other team members, volunteering for any additional demands from your manager, high dq scores and certifications
  6. Make sure at the time of Goal setting you connect with the manager and understand his expectations clearly . And ensure over the year you are going above and beyond each of those goals and document tang and sharing the journey with your manager

Do double work in half pay, do TL n mgr like work with TA pay. Or subtly show that u gonna leave company, best biscuits are given to best slaves or hard to control slaves

Need to contribute beyond project work. Like- unit level initiatives, hackathon, automations etc. Key thing is how u are differentiating from rest of the team or employees.
