What is the point of the 3 month notice period?

It's been one month since my resignation, and I haven't heard about my backup, clients are not communicated yet and even I don't know my LWD yet officially. Probably they kept the 3 month notice period because they have a trust in their management's laziness. Snail walk 🤔
