What is the most subtle, yet entirely soul-crushing thing in corporate?
For me it is the fake urgency. Everything is a P0. Everything is a fire.
You sit down to code. Ping. "Quick sync?"
You join the call. It is 6 PM on a Friday. A 35 LPA manager is having a complete meltdown over a PPT slide deck.
Nobody is dying. We are not saving lives. We are just moving Jira tickets around.
The worst part is how everyone just plays along. You have to match their fake panic. If you stay calm, you are labeled as "not invested" or "lacking ownership".
I was up till 2 AM last Tuesday. Fixing a backend issue for a feature that nobody even looked at until Thursday afternoon.
My org runs entirely on manufactured anxiety. It drains you completely. You wake up tired. You log in tired.
You spend 9 hours a day pretending to care about arbitrary deadlines set by a director who does not even know what your team actually builds.
I am just so tired of pretending.

Everyone is faking everything here.. Fake urgency, fake deadlines, fake involvement in work..
