What is the most important factor to look for when getting admission in B.Tech

Reputation and networking matters most. Tier 1 privates like BITs, VIT, Manipal often do better than a few IITs and NITs when it comes to placements solely because of their networking opportunities.

BITS shouldn't be grouped with colleges like VIT/Manipal. It directly competes with IITs. Their candidates are pretty good.

BITs has a better network than VIT/Manipal since it's been relevant longer, but the quality of candidates are often similar enough for this clubbing. Have seen some really entrepreneurial kids from VIT in the last few years especially.

Sad you don’t even have quality of teaching as an option. Where did we end up?

I did my bachelor's from Tier 2 college and master's from Tier 1 college. No matter what choose Tier 1 college, There is huge difference in placement scenario among tier 1 and rest of colleges but make sure course which you are going to choose have placement within that college. I dont think so ranking much big factor. Also try to get into college which are situated in cities dont go into remote location college.

I wonder why faculty, research, project grants etc aren’t even a criteria
