What is the most hilariously out of touch thing a manager has said to you?

I just got off a townhall at my org and I am honestly still processing the sheer delusion of our leadership team. The VP was addressing the obvious tension about our abysmal 3% appraisal cycle this year. People are obviously pissed because rent and groceries alone are eating that up in two months.

Instead of just owning up to the fact that the budget is tight or whatever, this guy goes on a 10 minute tangent about how we shouldn't worry about base pay and should instead focus on wealth creation through buying real estate early in our careers. He literally told a bunch of 20-something developers making average salaries in Bangalore to just buy a flat to offset the low hike. Bhai flat kya monopoly money se kharidu? The disconnect is actually insane He then casually mentioned how he bought his first villa back in 2008 like that is somehow relevant to the current housing market.

It got me thinking about how completely isolated these guys are from reality once they cross a certain pay bracket. Idk if I should laugh or cry at this point but it makes for a good story. Please tell me I'm not the only one dealing with this level of corporate comedy. What is the most hilariously out of touch thing someone in management has said to you guys? I really need to read some of these to feel better about my life today.

Boomers and GenX, I feel got very very lucky with the real estate market which is extremely over inflated just because of them and black money.

They just tell you to buy a house like it's chocolate. I literally feel like us GenZ are working twice as heard with AI coming in like a bulldozer for careers which we have just started or are in the midst of and these guys got the golden parachute while working like half as hard as us and without having to keep up with anything and were also given a lot of job stability.

Exactly this. They bought houses for peanuts back in the day and now lecture us on wealth creation while we can barely afford rent. The disconnect is just insane.
