What is non billable in projects?

Can someone explain what is non billable and billable in projects

What I understood from my manager:

Billable: Client gets charges and the client pays TCS for the work we do

Non-Billable: Client is not paying for us. TCS is spending money from its own pocket to pay us.

But tagged in project as a non billable means what?

To make it short ensure you are billed with the client . Now you are an investment with tcs . Freshers who comes out from college don't get billed initially unless they are trained well .

FP(Fixed Price, most probably TCS Managed projects) - Non billable

T&M (Time and Material, Client managed) - Hourly Billable

i am in non billable since August 1, 2025 and am tagged here as project leader . My allocation shows 30 Nov 2025. I have given interviews but didt clear any if inyerview yet. Are they going to release me or am tagged here as PROJECT LEADER they will put me here till 30 Nov
