Being Laid off with severance. PIP is just a tool to avoid severance. There's no voluntary resignation - It's getting fired only

If I am offered a PIP, should I consider requesting them to lay me off instead?

Use the time to find another job. If they are paying severance with immediate termination then yes. Generally people who are put in pip don't get offered any severance.

How about Work on the Area of improvements told??

I couldn't dedicate my full time to the job due to a family emergency, which unfortunately led them to suspect truancy, despite my prior notification about this unforeseen event.

Improving my performance is an option that I will certainly pursue after resolving the current situation. However, I personally do not wish to continue working with them, as the work environment is not conducive.

If culture is good, positive and you have good mentors, stay around. Improve your skills. Don’t take it on your ego if you feel hurt, it’s not personal. But if you see that the env is toxic and don’t have trusted mentors, GTFO

To be honest, there are a few people who genuinely support me through mentoring and assistance, but unfortunately, most of the people are just terrible. I mean, they don't even respond to a message on Slack.

I acknowledge that my performance hasn't been the best, and I'm actively working on improving it. However, I've reached a point where I'm fed up with the toxicity.
