What is better?

Have not asked for C3A promotion yet, completed 8.5 years. Rejoined 6 months back from maternity. Just managing my work anyhow. If i ask for promotion, there's gonna be counteroffer to work more,prove yourself first and even after this iam promoted, a lot of expectations (which i dont have bandwidth to fulfill given my current baby situation) and not that much of a salary hike.

Any suggestions?
