What does companies check in background verification?

Hello grapes, There is this question on my mind. What do compiles check while doing background verification. As far my knowledge goes they may verify you tenure in current organisation and maybe criminal history? Maybe current CTC as well.

Is there any one reading this who works in third party agency who do background verifications for organizations? Your input would be really appreciated here.

Or maybe anyone else knows more about this do comment.
