What does a PM do in a digital disruption role ?

Background in Capital Goods Manufacturing MNC. Hence IT lexicon is bit lost on me.

I see a lots of IT Project Managers in our HQ these days. They seem to be focused on digital transformation projects. I wonder what do they actually do ?
