What do you want from a startup?
I see so many folks complaining about status quo around where they work. Very curious to understand what are your expectations from a startup and the founders. This may help us get what we want from startup founders here.
In the comment, highlight what you want and what you're willing to give.

- Market and above pay depending on funding
- RSUs, not your toilet paper ESOPs
- this is a far cry but founders that actually listen to employees and evaluate ideas basis logic
- PMF or founder that aggressively chases till it's there. Then directions for departments/leads and expectations clearly communicated to employees
- get everyone onboard the problem/vision
- Some sort of hybrid work setup with trips and team building activities
- MacBooks or quality laptops that compliment instead of bottleneck

Even RSUs are prone to disproportionate dilution tactics that I've seen play out with many folks. Startup equity getting liquidated is a rarer event than most people think.

Great list, many funded startups are vanity projects by rich, nepotistic kids building the n-th copy of a product, who find it easy to raise funds because of their daddy's network - I think expecting them to be logical, empathetic, open to ideas and debate and not narcissistic is probably expecting a bit too much.

I'd choose a startup whose mission I like and challenging projects. Happy to spend whatever time that's required to see it through.
