What are you driving?
Going for my first car. Highly confused between safety and features. Budget 20l.

Safety first for me so I would avoid Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
Personally, I would go for Tata Harrier in that budget range even if I don't get the higher models.

Of course, I would also avoid Kia like anything - same reason as above.

Harrier is diesel only. Pollution + daily driving is not enough for this to be economical. Have heard about possibility of a petrol variant launch in 2024 but I can't wait another year for it.

As mentioned in that famous song, feature dekh ke car ni lete engine tagda hona chahiye. You'll can not go wrong with either of vw twins or maybe try streching for Mahindra XUV 700 it's gem of a suv almost as stable as vw vento. When I'll upgrade strongly considering it.
Avoid kia/hyundai like you'd want to avoid herpes. Was able to overheat the kia sonet dct transmission in little bit of spirited driving, it can fail on you any time.

Among the VW twins, i have heard a lot about the AC issues in the 1.0l + turbo lag, so I am not able to make up my mind about the 1.0 TC auto. Therefore, I was leaning more towards the 1.5l Manual. The 1.5 auto is a dsg200 for which I have heard a lot of negative reviews. Being my first car and having never driven an auto I am unsure of going for the DSG200.
The other option in auto is the CVT of Elevate but my family said NO to it after seeing the hump in the middle rear seat during the test drive.

I've a vento 1.2 TSI with same infamous dsg since 2017 done 60k kms no issues so far, online people have kinda fasley maximised up the issue it's not genuinely prevelant.
If you do regular services and maintain the dsg dq 200 will not fail on you, it was also used to some Audi models in India if you like the cars go ahead with them take the 5-6 extended warranty if still paranoid about the failure.

None sadly

@LoveDeathRobots Honestly the best answer for it is to test drive all of them. Considering you have 5 or even more options in there, I am assuming you haven't test driven them

Test drove Kushaq and Elevate. I am afraid that if I test drive Seltos or Creta i might end up prioritizing features over safety. Every time I see the interiors of Kia in an online review, my heart skips a beat. The heart says Kia/Hyundai, Brain says Kushaq.

See that's where you are wrong. You are being too much presumptuous here. What if you don't like the 1.5 NA engines or you do not like the driving dynamics of the Koreans?
Because if you go closer to 20 lacs mark, you can get starting variants of Safari, Scorpio N and XUV700. These are 5 star rated and big cars too and have even bigger engines
