What are some good places to live as a north Indian near Amazon Chennai?

I got an offer from Amazon but unfortunately at Chennai location. What are some areas which are north Indian friendly and have a mix culture where I won't be harrassed for being from North and can live peacefully.

Also do you have some good source to learn enough Tamil to survive?

Was there for 8 years, never got harassed. Faltu mentality leke mat ja. Chennai is a great place. Look for places in OMR road (Near by Jain college)

See if you can stay near Tiruvanmayur. Beach is walkable distance.

Unfortunately Chennai? Do you know that Chennai Central is almost entirely north indian, generational folks from Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP, Bombay, Kolkata, Bihar etc (Purusawalkam, Sowcarpet, etc ). Who have left their homes and have settled down in Chennai for almost a century now and continue to do so. You'll be surprised to meet them because they might be more fluent in Tamil than the locals. There is a reason why people leave the north to settle down south, and not vice versa.

If "Unfortunately Chennai" is your attitude then stay the fk away because you will get your ass beat.

Can you make it less humid & hot? No. I stick to "unfortunately".

Tamil is an easy language to speak (I'm not a South Indian).

All you need to learn is transactional Tamil which the locals appreciate for effort. Everyone speaks English and understand Hindi. They'll switch to something you understand if you make the effort to learn and speak like the locals. Start off with YT.

Also - its a great city with good friendly people all around. Enjoy your time there.

You can try adyar, thiruvanmiyur or Velachery to be fairly closer to work. People are warm, a bit conventional but that doesn’t mean they are rude, they are just rooted. You’ll have great co-workers, ask them anything they’ll be more than happy to do anything. Welcome to south. Yes, it might be humid and hot but you’ll forget all that when you see the sunrise in the beach and go for walks in the beach. Enjoy!

Broken English works well, and twenty basic Tamil words should get you through initially

If your office is Perungudi one,you can stay in the whole stretch between Thiruvanmyur to Thoraipakkam-Shollingnalur, but look for places near office first. Look for somewhere near beach if possible for peace of mind/ or in gated community. Don't go with pre-conceived notions people are mostly friendly as long as you are also respectful (don't mock anyone for not knowing Hindi), most people know English/ can work with broken English.

I don't expect people to know Hindi, I expect people to understand that I don't know Tamil although I will eventually learn it. If broken english works then it's perfect. I was thinking to go for some managed PG like zolo stanza first and then find a flat.

Moving to Chennai

Been born and brought up in Delhi and have lived here for all my 30 years.

I've recently received an offer from PayPal for Chennai location.

A lot is going on in my head considering the relocation like weather, food, infra, etc.

Notice period

I am a 2024 grad. I got to know that my org has 3 month notice period. I have talked with 2-3 seniors, I got to know that they don't let go before 3 months and don't offer buy out. The CTC is not that good also (8.3 LPA).

My background ...
