My househelp of 20 years now has

  • a bank account under Jan dhan
  • availed free health insurance
  • been cooking food using free/subsidized LPG cylinders
  • been getting free foodgrains
    among other things.

But who am I or she to say that she is better off than before? This long-para writing Bangali knows best.

One anecdote doesn't represent the whole population. Rural spending fell under BJP's rule for the first time since independence.

You know someone fucked up when even the rural poor start cutting budgets for essentials.

It has just started showing signs of marginal recovery but sits on the precipice. Covid mismanagement pushed many into irreversible poverty.

The Household Consumption Expenditure survey paints a very different picture, showing that:

  • Household expenditure went up
  • Rural-urban divide went down
  • % expenditure on food went down indicating that people were spending more on non-essentials.

If you are specifically comparing the covid year to the year before it, then what you are stating might have been the case.
But again, that year was an aberration.

BJPs biggest success has been to make Indians believe in India, which should come naturally, but never did. That has actually translated into positive outcomes for people/ households which had none in their previous generations. I know fuckers would say - growth of a country can be attributed to time, but what they completely miss is outcomes only arrive after hope, not before. There have been numerous initiatives which have alleviated grass root problems - Ujjwala, Swacch Bharat, Jan dhan, dbt etc, but this fucker won’t know coz in waste bengal only hamba hamba hamba rumba rumba happens.

Not true. India is on a boom cycle as the government finally started to increase the capital expenditures on highways, airports, and railway. For instance, this government has nearly electrified the entire Indian railway network, which was unthinkable a few years ago, and finished the two Freight Corridors East and West.

If they keep expanding the DFCs , expressways , Vande bharat networks, that alone will propel Indian manufacturing and fires up our growth in GDP. This government has done quite well on infrastructure front for sure

And then after a 15 year rule you find all our gareeb ministers are somehow worth 300-400cr because they invested in the stock market. Lul

What I have realised since the model code of conduct has been in force, congress supporters feel extremely disappointed since anyone they talk to in real life or try to convince they congress is needed, the audience usually just casually shrugs them off, triggering them and really hurting their ego.

This turns into a vile post online, as if the entire frustration has been worked out on the keyboard. And more they’re triggered on these posts, nastier their replies and then ghosting.

I always thought they were for freedom of speech, but the moment an iota of data is passed to them, they just go ballistic!

I don’t know how kuch the learned people of GV are interested in politics. Let me tell you one thing- There have been several mass public welfare initiatives that have solved issues that existed since decades, you can’t deny that. Even the NYT and other left leaning media houses had to agree to that and published decent sized articles about water tap connections, inclusion in formal economy, road building in extremely remote areas etc.

I can agree that this government uses authorities against the opposition, but that is something each govt has done, also what are the alternatives?

Atleast this govt is upfront about their plans and they deliver.

And if you disagree to what I said, you should follow journalists like Shekhar Gupta, DK Singh who have a history of left lineage but are extremely good journalists and never shy away from appreciating and ridiculing the govt as and when need arises.

Ye sab twitter articles by privileged standups is very superficial understanding of this country, its politics and how India votes.

Inko ignore kro.

Honestly I don't think it's the BJP that's pretending 'development'.
It's its voters who are still pretending they voted for 'development'
