TCS has many bad things like toxic environment or bad managers . But when it comes to welfare of society or employee there is no company like tata group.
This 250 rs goes to tata welfare trust which takes care of urgent needs of all it's employees across group and being managed by tata trust itself.
There is no way it's used for something illegal or for commercial benefit .
You guys will understand this only when you will get into a situation where welfare trust will help you.
I know all these because tcs gave me interest free loan for my parents treatment from this fund when I needed . They would have given me grant had I enrolled my father in his and exhausted his limit.
True, people who have never got into such a situation will never understand the value of this.

Ooh, sorry to put the standards so low, just checked they deducted some 2,100, I didnt even bet on any IPL teams.
It's a scam.without employee consent they have deducted.
Buddy, for that you need to thoroughly read through your offer letter before signing. Everything is mentioned there and wen u sign it, which means u already consented to this deduction. Talk sensibility.
God forbid, you never have to take help from tata welfare trust, but if such situation arises, don't forget to approach them through your BHR. That's when you'll understand the value of this 250 Rs once a year.
TCS may be worse company but the Tata Welfare Trust is a promising entity that helps it's employees in dire need provided the genuineness of the issue.
So think before u throw such unwanted comments that too for 250 bucks annually.

Whatever welfare fund they call it, the Give and Take policy, TCS is using this to avail Tax benefits from IT Department..!
