We have become amongst the most unequal country in the world.

Inequalities in India have been climbing since the 80s and peaked by 2015, stayed flat for few years, but again started to climb post COVID!! This isn't about BJP Congress(both have to tow the line), Hindu Muslim, forward backwards caste or anything else.

A group of powerful families and the top 1% are hijacking all the resources and productivity gains of our people, more than any other major country. And it's negatively affecting the vast majority of people of India irrespective of their religion, language, castes etc. Decisions are made for the top 1% such as where to invest money, where to invite new companies, whom to give loans, weaken labour laws, metros get first priority, increase work hours and so on.

Also shows how the layoffs and cost cutting in recent years was just a move to hoard wealth. What are we supposed to do about this? I wish we could get the guillotine out.

Assuming this graph is true. This was bound to happen.
The gvmt today has 80% reservation. There are college libraries where there is reservation. Today a son/daughter of an crorepati IAS officer gets everything for free because of caste related policies. If goverment sponsored apartheid is fine, this should be acceptable as well.

This has nothing to do with reservation although as a GEM, I support only merit based reservation

How come china has income inequality. I know there is some nuance but still looks odd.

Indians seem to be proud of income inequality. A poll would be interesting

China does have inequalities but not near Indian levels

The License Raj has not really ended. Old beneficiaries of License Raj are reaping dividends. Want mining rights? Bribe a minister. Want to do large-scale construction work? Bribe a minister. Want to take up large scale contract work? Guess what? No! You can't bribe a minister. A "contract Mafia" head killed off all other potential ministers and has become the new minister.

Inequality will end only when private players get a fair chance to set up businesses and compete.
