Watercooler: 20th Feb
Hello folks,
Hope you've all been well. It's been some time since we did this, so thought of starting a watercooler :)
To people who are new: Welcome to the watercooler: the place for any conversations that feel a bit small to create a dedicated post. Manager acting weird today? Ended up being really late to a meeting and got angry looks? Need show recommendations? This is probably the place for it.
Look forward to hearing from you all :)
- The Unpaid Intern* (*Disclaimer: I am actually paid though)

Also folks, while we are here, want to also tell you: you can send unlimited DMs to me. I'd be happy to always solve anything that's bugging you about GV and hear feedback on where we're doing okay, and where we're doing not so okay.
Feel free to always reach out! π

Ah I've few feedbacks!

Finally. GV feels a bit changed from what it was a few months back. This post is a pleasant throwback.
I know 2024 isn't a good year to discuss this, but the anxiety is riding high going into the appraisal season. I overheard this topic in office yesterday and made me feel quite uneasy.

@majboormajdoor how do you feel about how things have changed, would be super to know. And it's a pleasant throwback for me too, I miss seeing people everyday and talking to them (even tho most of it was random chatter)

A guy at my company sde -2 is trying to micro manage me, it has been 6 months working as a full-time (fresh grad) and now if I think about it he tags me on issues which are hard and looks for ways whenever he finds me free to hand over something extra . Gives very little information about most of the issues. Is it normal?
username doesnβt checkout, change it!

What to do if you think you are better than your manager and you question her each decision (mentally)?

What exactly should my role be called if I work on all of the following
ML(mainly Computer Vision and Image Processing related stuff but other domains like NLP might also arrive in the future)
Data Science(data extraction, cleaning, exploration, feature engineering following all of this with ML based predictions)
Data Engineering(Data warehouse related stuff e.g. working with Airflow and creating DAGs)

scott finally forced the intern to put the disclaimer
Chills, literall chills. I feel like old man now, seeing this post!
