Warning: Stop Chasing Big Tech - The Hidden Health Crisis

To anyone idolizing this Big Tech life, please reconsider. If you value your peace, guard it. I recently visited a colleague who was hospitalized from extreme burnout, and it is truly terrifying.

Yesterday, a brilliant developer suffered a severe panic attack at his desk, with zero warning. Management and wellness teams gave empty platitudes: take a few days off, but ensure your deliverables are met. Imagine the helplessness of high performers forced to code from a hospital bed. The hypocrisy of corporate culture is appalling. While they heavily promote mental health awareness, they are crushing dedicated engineers with impossible deadlines. This speaks volumes about the toxicity of our hustle culture.

Adding to the misery, we are grinding 12-14 hour days, including weekends, for the past two years, just to justify our 45 LPA packages. After sacrificing personal lives, many were given mediocre performance ratings a month ago, only to be loaded with more work.

The most painful part was seeing senior engineers, some with over a decade of experience, crying in the restroom, unsure how they will survive another quarter of this stress. The clinic doctor's blunt warning was, "Do not ignore your blood pressure or you will face a stroke." They ignored the signs, pushed through exhaustion, and completely ruined their health.

This industry clearly has no respect for human limits. If you are desperate to join a FAANG org, think again. No compensation is worth the physical toll and chronic anxiety this lifestyle demands.

Not yet, but I am actively planning my exit. Seeing what happened to my colleague was the final wake-up call I needed. Health has to come first.
