Want to know about Paytm Culture before taking the bluepill

Title. Got an offer at Paytm as a product manager - and I’ve heard generally negative things. But no specifics of the story/culture.

I come from a startup so I understand that long hours/weekend work is the common norm. But what else is bad about PayTm’d product management teams? Your specific inputs would help me make an informed decision 😌😁

My non negotiable is no swearing/personal humiliation and a good leave policy (my current company barely has like 10 org wide leaves in the holiday calendar - including the national holidays).

What is the work like there? Any other details/anecdotes would help

Product manager role is a punching bag role at Paytm. You will be held responsible for every dam wrong thing. Be ready for humiliation and managers are like vultures waiting to eat your credit. Long working hours is not the problem, issue is internal politics. And on the top of it be always ready for layoffs, every 3-4 months they prepare list for firing. So you never know when you cone under radar

Yes but thats the role is in general. PMs are always held accountable for things theyve done. Credit stealing im used to and okay with. Doesnt matter if you’re gonna bounce anyway after a year maybe 😀. What is the situation with layoffs? And generally what kind of a paymaster is Paytm?

Dude you dont have to be sarcastic or a jerk about it if you dont have a meaningful contribution to make. Im actually looking for meaningful bits of data to guide my decision. Not all toxicity is equal and if I’m cool walking into a cess pit of bs as is evidently put forward by everyone online, then you should be too.

You’re fine as long as you don’t have face time with the big man himself. Then your world spins around you as he shocks you with his rudeness and zamindari attitude. He will call you at a moment’s notice on weekends onto his Zoom. God save you if you’re not available. It’s the place where one typically feels least respected in their career timeline.

I had worked in Paytm all I can say is worst. Product managers keep changing due to nonsense management

Can't say about product team, but in my experience, have only logged in on weekends maybe 2-3 times in 1.5 years

Sometimes, the managers do create unnecessary urgency /pressure, specially during MBR time, but you can manage if you're good at your work. Sometimes you do get in a soup due to other stakeholders complacency/ negligence.

Swearing /Gali galoch/crass language etc. happens but no humiliation / personal attacks on me yet (Can't say about others)

Leaves were never an issue, always was allowed to take planned/emergency leaves without any repercussions

I know for a fact that people get shouted at, humiliated and verbally abused in large forums. I have a very close friend who is already dealing with a horrible manager and this is a norm rather than exception. It really does take a toll on your mental health, i have seen it first hand with my friend. If you have other options, do consider them.

I worked at Paytm for around three years. I had a decent work-life balance, and the only concern was that Paytm's pay scale was below the market standard.

Broo. It’s better you jump from the 3rd story - than take that role.

I’ve been in startups since almost a decade - joined paytm for about a year - it’s the bottomest pit in terms of work culture amongst all start ups.

You’ll hear leaders use MC, BCs in larger meetings. You don’t see all this in Zomato, Zepto, Urban Company etc etc.

Does Paytm have a toxic work environment?

A friend reached out to someone at Paytm's marketing department for a referral and she said she no longer worked there and wouldn't suggest Paytm as an organisation. She refused to reveal any more information about it, so I'm just curious
