Trending @Capgemini; Vulnerability Management: Exciting Opportunity or Tough Night Shift? Help Needed! Offered a Job in a Domain I Know Nothing About!

I’ve been on the bench for the past 3 months, with my tech stack primarily in Java Fullstack and some experience in Python. Recently, I received a call from my RMG about an AWS requirement, and I expressed my interest.

Soon after, I was interviewed by a Senior Security Manager from the Infrastructure Services BU for a role in Vulnerability Management. The work involves using a tool to scan systems for vulnerabilities, communicating with clients on how to remediate them, and then generating reports based on the findings.

However, this domain is entirely new to me, and I have no prior experience with it. The shift timings are also night-based, running until around 11:30 PM to 12:30 AM.

I’m seeking advice on a few things:

How demanding or hectic is this kind of work?

What should I be aware of in terms of responsibilities and challenges in Vulnerability Management?

Given that I haven’t received any calls related to Java from my RMG, should I consider rejecting this opportunity?

Any insights, especially from those with experience in Security Management, would be greatly appreciated. Your guidance will help me make a more informed decision.

Vulnerability Management can be demanding, especially with night shifts, but it's a growing field. If you're open to learning and adapting, it might be worth exploring, but weigh it against your interest in security.

Thanks for the response. since this is a tool-based role with no coding involved, could the work become monotonous? I’m not sure if I have a strong interest in security, though I’m open to exploring the field.

My main worry is that if I end up not liking the work and face issues to get released from the project, it could put me in a difficult position. What do you think?
