It's ok. Bangalore's first duty is for Karnataka. My take as a local is, this reservation should be limited to support staff at best. We should not do it for skilled labour. If I am hiring for my own project or company even I don't want any shyt type of reservation.
However game changes with support staff, we built Bangalore so that it helps us. Migrants can benefit as surplus of it we are happy. But, if our own people don't get jobs in city then what's the point. Everywhere I go in own city I need to speak Hindi. That's trash. I know Hindi really well. But kannada is home, and near my home I want things to be native. I don't mind living with others but only as long as I am living with my own people.
Anyway I don't think this govt has balls to do it. It's just an election gimmick. If done properly (restricting to support staff, things will turn out really well)
But why only Kannada? Karnataka has many languages that are native to it - Karnataka != Kannada. Your reasoning effectively serves to alienate rather than integrate.
No no not at all. You are right. So it falls on how you measure kannada person. Or rather a Karnataka native.
I just left it by hoping that it would fall on an existing system that detects if a person is Karnataka one or not during our K-CET vs Comedk exams. You need to provide proof of study in Karnataka for atleast 6-8 years I think. We do it by getting study certificates from our schools etc.
If that's applied it serves the purpose. People who study in Karnataka from kids will learn to be one of us. No differentiation there even if they are Delhi bcs...
I mean for eg. Manish Pandey. Have you seen what happens when he plays with KL Rahul. The run call language switches to kannada and it's heard on screen. Even gavaskarv pointed it out. I mean I have seen many cute northiex who I grew up with learn better kannada than us and beat us in argument over it. Wish for that culture to grow.
