I’m planning to take my family to visit Mysore DC next month . Does anyone know what is the process and what approvals i would require to visit there ?

You will have to create a visitors pass for your family member. And family are allowed only on weekends (Sat/Sun). Visitors pass are available from the helpdesk near the gate.

No prior email approvals are required? I can simply visit on weekends, right ?

Yes you can visit the Security Gate 2 and they should allow it. But make sure you carry a government id proof of each family member. Because they only allow immediate family members eg: father, mother, siblings etc.
