Virtual Interview
Dear Interviewers/HRs,
I’ve noticed that in many virtual interviews, the interviewee is expected to have their camera on, while interviewers often keep theirs off. This seems a bit one-sided, considering that in a physical interview setting, both parties see each other face-to-face.
Virtual interviews are meant to replicate the in-person experience as closely as possible. So, shouldn’t the standard of mutual visibility apply here too? Being able to see each other builds trust, adds a human touch to the conversation, and allows for better communication through non-verbal cues.
Just a thought I wanted to share—because transparency and mutual respect are key to any meaningful interaction.
