Viners please help I’ve never owned a Credit Card. What should be my first one?
Main spends: Food from Swiggy (quite a lot) Groceries from Instamart/Zepto One flight round trip per quarter to home Going out for food maybe once a week
Any advice? How do I approach this?

Unpopular advice - Stop ordering so much from swiggy , not good for health.
Credit card - You can try IDFC Wealth card, HSBC cashback card, Citi Rewards. Always go for LTF if not a big spender.

Haha thanks for the advice. I tend to agree generally eating out is not so good for health but I also mostly order very healthy stuff. I’ve eaten outside food for 3-4 years now and generally been healthy. It’s a habit from my time living in the US and working in a company that provides food
Hear you on the CC advice :)

Ask in Technofino community. Icici amazonpay would be an all rounder card & good start I think. Then u can optimise per category unless u can get premium cards like Infinia. If spends are mostly online then maybe SBI/HSBC cashback

The spends tab is so relatable! 🙌

HDFC Swiggy card is a good places to start with. Though it has a ₹500 joining fee, considering you order from Swiggy/Instamart a lot you’ll get 10% cashback upto ₹1500 per month (Also applies to Dineout payments).

So maximum cash back is like 18000 over a year? And this is over and above any other discount codes I may get?

Yes. The 10% cashback is capped at 1500 per month(18k per year). You’ll get the cashback in form of Swiggy money. So can only be used for spends in Swiggy.
