Very less learning from job

I am a front end dev with 3 yoe. I worked for the first company for around 2 years and almost completing 1 year in the present company. In both these companies, i felt that i didnt get much learning as the product was in stable state and what my work was to do small modifications which is nothing compared to product development.

I am thinking of preparing for interviews. But this issue of not learning from job worries.

I just what to know if i can fill the gap by doing some projects on my own.

Also what to know if anyone else is facing the issue.

I always felt that the level of exposure that a dev gets totally depends on what phase the product is on. Is there a way to figure it out so that alteast in my next job, i will be getting good learning?
