Value of MS in long term?
Question to experienced guys , (ppl with > 8 yoe) Going up the ladder, the competition for promotions must get harder and harder with lesser people on the top. At this stage do you find that having an additional degree helps in terms of hirability? Does MS add any value in in long term career growth/job security?
I don't want to move from India , so I was trying to evaluate if there is meaning to an MS apart from transfer to US and dollar salary...

After 10 years... Post graduate degree is a necessary condition for a senior job.... Used by recruiters to filter out resume... Unless you're 10x kind ... In which case nothing matters

What do you mean by 10x kind?

10x developer kind

The market is sort of weird right now. People with 5 yoe are pulling 200k USD salaries in America. While many people are hunting jobs to secure their visa status. 2 extremes. Where you will land post your education is the gamble.
But if you were interested in education and can get a scholarship, it's completely worth it. Indian education is third rate with stupid rules like boys can't sit next to girls in class.. in MBAs!!
I say give it a shot, try for the best courses. Go only if it makes financial sense. Don't take undue risks.

Nope no meaning - you're right - stay in india

How much experience do you have? What have you observed in your time in the industry with regards to US returnee VS those who've always worked in India?

10 plus No change - expect more moeny and some better experience. Gap in Ind Us is shrinking. Most policies/tech followed hwre is close to US minus the visa stress and limitations

Don't think it'll matter much from a promotion or salary hike perspective. The only advantage is perhaps if you're looking for a change and the recruiter might prefer filtering your resume but I think things are changing.
The biggest advantage is if you're looking for a PR outside like Australia or Canada, You get extra points for that.

Thank you for your reply.
