UX of GV has turned so bad!
Has someone observed how horrible the UX of GrapeVine has become in recent times? That bottom button bar with just three buttons!! LIKE WHY!! Why leave so much space there!! Abd why combine Chat& notifications under “Inbox”!? Inbox should have been just about chats. Such silly design, these guys seem to have hired very poor UX guys.
Why we did this -> The app had become too cluttered, on any app open, there were too many different places for a user to go, leading to distraction. Over time, reading of posts, commenting, contribution went down.
Since we made these changes -> We have touched all time high metrics across posting, creation, commenting, and most of all, we’re able to now get more questions answered (which is important for our existence)
Big apps do have many icons at bottom, and that makes sense for them at their scale. We are still growing, we need to focus on our core flows, and hence News needed to be on the feed, not separate as product.
The inbox bit, that’s on naming, not on the UX guys, we’ll correct this if it’s confusing - sorry about that.
This is why we made the changes. And I would say our UX guys are very nice & quite amazing at what they do.
