US Citizen working in India - want to shift back to US

Title says it all.

I am a US citizen, completed Bachelor's in India currently 3 YOE. Applying to US locations through LinkedIn has seemed to be a failure. Any other suggestions how this could work.

Why is it a problem for you? No visa issues, just go there and give interviews

Market is fucked for people needing H1B sponsorship, shouldn’t be the case for citizens

DancingWalrus
DancingWalrus

I’m not getting interviews because they see my location as India and auto reject

May be you're an Indian US citizen.

Get a job in India that allows you to work from home, then go to US and apply at companies. Keep working for your Indian employer till you get a job.

When you apply for US locations, do you mention that you don't need visa sponsorship and are legally allowed to work in US?

Also you can use a US phone number and mention that you are in US anyways.

DancingWalrus

You're a us citizen behaving like an Indian. Go back there, and look for jobs there. In your resume maybe don't even mention you're an indian. You're not. You're an american with Indian roots.

Are you currently in working visa in India?

DancingWalrus
DancingWalrus

No, I have an OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) card

Ok. May be you need to relocate to USA first and then search for job there. But there is one problem. Generally in USA I have seen they prefer US degree. But since you have Degree in India and also work experience in India only it can be a little difficult. But unless you relocate to US it's quite impossible to apply for roles there unless your current company sends you.

First thing try to speak to some of your friends or Fmly contact in US who may be working with leading inc. Seek their reference/ help for pushing your candidature for an opportunity existing in their organisation or their good corporate contacts. Situation in US today is not hidden from any & you are also aware of it after business war initiated by POUS.
I certainly have no idea as on now whether pous/ WH is doing it is good or bad.
Oh I must tell you that your education in India may be reason why your profile being overlooked
Enroll for a short term upskilling courses in US university & start building your career profile & fulfill your career ambition

Do you have the funds to just move back to your country and then find a job?

DancingWalrus
DancingWalrus

Very honestly, not at the moment. I had some major unavoidable expenses in the past year, so leaving a job and shifting to the states would be a difficult call
