Update on my situation: Took Grapevine advice and started looking for new opportunities due to burnout in existing team but I recently got promoted to a crucial role within my team itself, BUT
But I am not satisfied and have interviewed for other opportunities. Thus I am listing the pros and cons of this new role. Help me decide if I should continue grinding or keep looking.
Pros:
- No longer working insane hours
- Critical role that will be pivotal to team strategy
- Lots of interfacing with upper level management (This can be counted as a con too, as I am an introverted extrovert)
- Good rapport with existing manager
Cons:
- Insane level of politics. Heavy focus on “being in the ears of manager”
- Familiarity with scope of work, nothing new for me to learn
Pros and cons of new opportunity: well only thing is I will have to start building my credibility from zero again, grind hard to prove myself etc. whereas I am already established in my current team.
Btw, here is my last post:

Depends on what kind of opportunities u get. If u can parallely look for new offer then do so

Thanks @FunnyBones i interviewed for an operations role which is definitely a downgrade from PM role but I am just tired of the constant bitching in this team. Any advice for me?

You don’t know what awaits u with operations role. Next jump can also be just as stressful. So only think of jumping if u get on par offer or better company/team

In my view, try out this new role in your current org. It will be a good boost to your CV where you can write about leadership and more strategic role. Also it solves your working hours problem so health will start to improve. That leaves only the politics - maybe look at it more of a regular reporting instead of politics, so it is no longer a ‘problem’ but just a ‘task’ which you have to do.
