Trending @Accenture; Update : Will they fck me up for not RTO
A bunch of you asked me to keep you posted about what would happen if I didn’t show up at the empty office I’m supposed to go to where, by the way, I work completely alone because my team is scattered across the globe.
Well, here it is.
I just got an email from HR saying I must report to the office within the next 3 working days, or “appropriate action” will be taken under Policy 0684 - Misconduct 1.6.4 and Policy 1085 - Primary Residential Location. Yeah, sounds as fun as it looks.
So basically, this company is forcing me to waste 4 hours once a week commuting to sit by myself in a half-empty building, reducing my productive hours and spending unnecessary money on transport, all for absolutely no reason.
The original RTO email preached about “the value of in-person collaboration” and “building connections.” Great idea… except my team doesn’t even work from the same state, let alone the same office. So tell me, who exactly am I bonding with? The vending machine?
If you’re someone from HR or upper management and you support this nonsense, just know this: I don’t like you :)

RTO objective is not to collaborate with project team member only but to connect with other colleagues outside your project. Build your networking. Make yourself visible to others. I don’t see any issue in it. Even my project team members are across country but still I am able to make myself visible to others and do networking. Think on a broader aspect. Networking helps when you in trouble and need guidance or support.

Let’s be honest, every office has tight-knit groups that barely interact outside their circle. So let’s not pretend forced RTO suddenly turns everyone into networking pros.
If someone wants to come in and build connections, great. But it should be a choice, not a forced ritual. People work and connect differently.

But it should not be mandatory and instead of one day week, it should be few days per month or quarter

Expecting sense from Accenture HR is as good as expecting brain from Trump which he sold accidentally while selling french fries in Macdonalds. Similary Accenture HRs lost theirs while making Rangoli in abode photoshop during remote work. So now they want to do fun friday and looking for suitable candidates

All these policies are for junior folks ,I know one SM who never visits office and don't care of his reportee visiting..All these policies are customised and curated. You just need to be in billable role and holding strong position where u can't be replaced.

I am in the same boat as you and this is stupid from the company. There is a screenshot making rounds on different platforms showing that there will be more warnings if we still don't comply with weekly office visits and then finally on 30th June they will take the big wild step - termination.

Bro I have similar project scattered all over different locations and I literally had to travel 700 km away from home, giving 6k per month room rent just to go once a week in base location where I work alone 😖, my thousands of rupees getting wasted for this bs and living alone like a ghost
I guess you should live inside Accenture office and save some money 😃

I am in the same situation. I work alone. Directly reporting to the client. Even my client is having work from home. I denied going to the office and had to face one to one call with HR. After which I went to the office for a month.
Again after going for one and half months, i didn't go to the office for 2 weeks and got weekly absence attendance with my manager in cc. And then a follow up email from manager and same hr in cc saying I am not complying with policy and it will create unnecessary non compliant hr issues.
Then unwillingly, I replied that I was unavailable due to some family issues (although it was true).
Now I am going at least 3 times a month.
Right now I am focusing on switch but not getting call. I had cracked 2 interview but it stopped a notice period.
