unrealistic deadlines

how do you guys deal with managers setting up unrealistic deadlines? My manager without even consulting the team about efforts required gave the estimated completion date of the project which is impossible to deliver by that time. I tried to reason with him several times about extending the timeline but he doesn't listen at all. what should i do in this case?
