I completed my bachelor’s degree in August 2022, and it’s been over 2.5 years since then, but I’m still unemployed and struggling to land a tech job. I graduated from a tier 4-5 college, and much of my college life was impacted by COVID, which prevented me from gaining internships or practical experience. I did manage to secure a job through on-campus placement at a service-based MNC in the hardware domain, but it requires a 3-year commitment, with a 5 lakh penalty if I break the contract. The issue is, I have no real interest in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), and I ended up choosing it due to financial constraints, although my true passion lies in software development. After graduation, I started exploring how to break into software engineering, and my love for design and visuals led me to web development, particularly frontend development. I learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React, building projects like a movie database app and a video streaming app, and began applying for jobs and internships in January 2023. Despite my efforts, I was rejected time and again, and I learned about the importance of Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) for tech jobs. I started practicing on platforms like LeetCode and GeeksforGeeks, but I struggled to solve even the simplest problems, which made me feel discouraged. I Quited DSA. I continued applying for frontend developer roles at startups, but I faced rejections in the screening rounds as well.
After two years of hard work and constant rejection, I’m frustrated, demotivated, and unsure of what to do next.
I’m desperate to find a job in tech and would greatly appreciate any advice or tips that could help me overcome this challenge and get a job as soon as possible.
