Uber SDE 2 vs DE Shaw SMTS

Hi all,

I recently interviewed with Uber and DE Shaw and was fortunate to receive offers from both.

I started interviewing because I wanted to move back to Delhi, so I was specifically looking for jobs in the Delhi NCR region or remote jobs. However, Uber is offering positions only in Hyderabad or Bangalore, neither of which I prefer. Additionally, the pay gap is significant, with DE Shaw offering considerably more.

At this point, is it worth choosing Uber over DE Shaw just for the brand name?

I’m really confused between these two options. Based on my evaluation, here’s how they compare category by category: • Compensation – DE Shaw • Location – DE Shaw • Brand Value – Uber • Engineering Culture – Uber • Role & Responsibilities – DE Shaw

Looking at these factors, I feel DE Shaw is the better choice for me (please help boost my confidence in this decision, lol). Would love to hear your thoughts!

Join DE Shaw. If you can share the comp offered I can give you perspective of what you can expect in next few years

You can expect around 20% growth every year (stocks included) for next 2-3 years before you get to L5a. At L5a you can expect a good jump in terms of overall comp. Now compare it with offered CTC in DE shaw and try to get info on how much growth you can expect there. You will have fair idea in terms of monetary benefits which one to opt for. Eng Culture is highly dependent on the team you will get to work with. Brand - yes Uber is good. In everything, location takes a big advantage, if DE shaw is giving you preferred location then go for it because even if you accept Uber offer and join, jn few months or years you would again look out for shifting. Better to settle now.

Thanks, Monetory benefit wise DE Shaw is better in terms of appraisal if Uber gives 20% year on year than both are good, Yes that's what i was thinking don't want to suffer for another year in Bengaluru
