This is great tbh I think Namma Yatri started this, and iirc, Rapido also does this now.

I think Uber's current model doesn't work for whatever reason, and Rapido is doing much better

Correct me if I'm wrong though

Oh yep, it's true Rapido is on a subscription model as well

And as someone in bangalore - Rapido is 10x better than Uber in terms of reliability and speed of getting an auto

Rapido allows log in @ ₹19/day for drivers
Not sure how much uber would charge

Definitely cheaper than current model, plus they can deny any rides, quote any price they want

W for the auto driver, L for the consumer

So basically, uber is giving free hand to autos to charge whatever they like. They will have data where most auto are used and use that to their advantage for their moto rider business.

What do they mean by suggest fare? Uber can suggest 50 bucks but the driver would just say I won't take anything less than 100. So what is the use of uber if I need to negotiate fare?

Uber would still be connecting you to nearby autos where you can proceed with negotiation

Blame the auto mafia, not uber here

Exactly in the end consumer is the person who is always on the suffering end, these apps were very helpful in atleast streamlining the prices, now the auto walas will charge heavily on to us which they had been doing from long time in unorganised / offline sectors, we have to start booking 1hr before now many autos will say we can't come at that price like that.

Uber's fighting to keep its piece of the Bengaluru auto market.

Man , now the auto drivers will have all the control in Bangalore.

Just the other day , as soon as I came out of the bus , an auto driver asked my home location and said "Rs. 300"

I told him I'm booking a cab for "Rs. 140" , he got so angry/disappointed and told me "Alright I'll take you for Rs. 250", I said "No , thank you".

That's how bad the situation is in Bangalore. And mind you , I'm a Bangalore born and brought up guy .

GoofyBurrito

₹250 for how long a distance?

It's gonna get so much more difficult in banglore now

QuirkyNarwhal

earlier uber used to put fare based on distance and time. now drivers will ask for any amount and they will ultimately cancel it and you will keep on searching for drivers. these auto and bike drivers are shittiest people.

Basically Uber just gave a free hand to Auto mafia. Funny that a multi million corporation is bending to wills of Auto mafia in India.

They had no choice since rapido / namma yatri already following this model

There's also similar cab app, called inDrive like this that connects the driver and suggest a fare which we can negotiate but the point is even if the fair price as per distance is 100 , driver won't go in less than 300 if they don't won't and eventually people who need will pay 300 and soon it will become a normal.

I can’t say this is good or bad. I like how it empowers the auto drivers, but this may eventually result in bad user experience for the passengers. Haggling.

JazzyPanda

Wdym empowers the autodrivers my dude? 🥺 they are all crooks and pretty violent here in Bangalore.

GoofyWalrus
GoofyWalrus

Is this just in Bangalore where auto walas are literally crooks or is this going to be implemented in all the cities as well?

Uber and Rapido didn’t respond to Metrolife. Ola refused to comment. Tanveer Pasha, president of Ola Uber Driver’s and Owner’s Association, said ride aggregators aren’t following the ‘one city, one fare’ structure.

Plumbers, Electricians earn more than an average engineer.

Saw this on Twitter today. Tech Mahindra hiring graduates for 3.25 LPA and 24*7 Shift timing. I talked to various people to get an idea of their pay. A) A plumber lives near my house. He said he earns 2-3k daily and works for 20-25 days...
