Planning to buy a new car from TN registration.
Any TN people who have purchased a car with TN registration and running it in bangalore?
Note: I am searching for an alliance also. So I am not pretty sure about my permanent location. I keep open options for both chennai and Bangalore profiles..
So now if u buy a car here in TN. Later a year if I move to Bangalore. What would be the consequences?
Please go for BH registration, with this you can take your car to any corner of india.
Your company must have offices in more than 4 states or you are a central government employee
You will have to pay Karnataka tax also. Cops always looking out for other state vehicles
I have TS number plate and driving in blr. Many times police stopped me to check DL and RC. And some times to fine me for violations like pillion rider helmet, overspeed. No police asked me about this.
Normally we have a rule like if we are running white plate in different state, we can run for an year with the same registration. I don't know how they will calculate an year.
I drove my 2-w from 2020-2022 in BLR. Then back to Hyderabad. I shifted to BLR again in 2024 residing till date. But during second visit, I have driven 2w as well as 4w. No police questioned me regarding the number plate.
I heard from taxi drivers that white plate doesn't have any travel restrictions. But yellow plate vehicles should pay the road tax before you cross the border.
For e.g. If I have TS/TG vehicle registered with yellow plate, and travelling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, then I have to pay AP and KA road tax before crossing the respective border. Once it is paid it will be valid for 7 days.
That means, if you are returning before 7 days from BLR to HBD, you are not required to pay KA or AP tax. But if you are returning after 7 days, you have to renew the existing tax until your return. While returning, you have to pay AP tax.
I have enquired about BH plate as well, it has to be renewed every 2 years. But when coming to state number plate, first time registration would be 20 years. After that, based on the condition of your vehicle, rto will decide how many years to extend
No consequences will happen as long as you have your vehicle related documents clean and up to date.
Buy a BH number.It will solve all your issues.
